Sunglass frame designs often reflect a personal style. Most people choose sunglasses based on current fads and styles. When selecting a pair of shades, however, remember that not every style is going to look great on your face. Take some time to make sure the frame shape suits your own face and head shape. Below you will find some of the exciting sunglass trends popular for late 2011.

3. Retro Sunglasses

Meaning "backwards" or "in past times," the term "retro" applies to big sunglasses that were all the rage in the past, but popular once again. Easily spotted by their mono-colored thick plastic frames, retro sunglasses are available in various frame styles and suit most facial shapes. Retro frames are often very large, covering much more of your face than normal sunglasses, although some styles are designed to only partially hide your eyes. Designed for both men and women, retro shades became popular in the 1960s and 70s. They tend to come in and go out of style often, but if you are gutsy enough to wear them, they make a definite fashion statement.

4. Edgy Sunglasses

What are edgy frames? Think unique frame shapes (triangular, top fashion glasses for men, rectangular) with distinctly cut edges. These futuristic sunglasses are mainly seen on runway models. Edgy frames are so distinct that some people thought they would never make it to mainstream faces. Edgy sunglass styles try to meld classic designs with futuristic details such as odd lens shapes or chrome detailing. Edgy sunglasses, as the name implies, will help you stand out in a crowd. Nearly anyone can wear edgy shades as they are available in shapes and sizes to match any facial shape.
